No. The Period Panty is a complete replacement for disposable products and easily holds the fluid of several tampons. But if you're unsure or trying the panty for the first time, you can also wear it as a back-up with a tampon, a liner or a menstrual cup to give you a feeling of security.
Period underwear is very durable and therefore super sustainable. With regular use and the right care, you can use the panty for approx. 2-3 years.
On average, 5-7 panties per cycle should be absolutely enough. Of course, this depends on how heavy your flow is and how many days your period lasts. (You can of course start with 3-4 panties and wash them straight after use to get a feel for how often you need to change your panty.)
Ideally, after wearing your panty, turn it inside out, rinse it under cold running water, then put it in the washing machine and wash it at 30 degrees. Please don't put it in the tumble dryer. Please hang it on the line to dry.
